Moorestown, NJ--August 21, 2009--Grassroots.org, a New York-based organization that provides free web and technology resources for nonprofits nationwide, selected Moorestown nonprofit A Drink for Tomorrow from nearly 2,000 organizations as its Member of the Month.
Each month, the staff selects one member whose work best fulfills the Grassroots.org mission: To serve as a catalyst for positive social change by leveraging modern technologies and best business practices.
Grassroots.org staff judge each month's member websites on four main criteria: activity, growth, creativity and navigability. With its smooth integration of multimedia content, inviting web design and effective use of Grassroots.org tools, A Drink for Tomorrow excelled in each of these categories.
"As an organization, we want to see other nonprofits succeed and grow because of the services we provide," said Shane Hankins, Executive Director of Grassroots.org. "The A Drink for Tomorrow website is a great example of how technology partnerships can impact communities around the world."
Founded by recent Georgetown graduates Stephanie Weaver and Brian Morrison in November, the nonprofit demonstrates how start-ups can build strong business partnerships with local and national organizations. A Drink for Tomorrow creates cause marketing campaigns to raise funds and build awareness for the global water crisis.
Nationally, A Drink for Tomorrow is a member of DoSomething.org, a Grassroots.org partner that supports young nonprofit entrepreneurs. Locally, Weaver and Morrison have raised $4,000 through partnerships with local businesses for its "Turn Wine into Water" campaign.
"That work would not have been possible without support from Grassroots.org," Weaver said. "Having an online presence is crucial in today's day and age," she added. "Grassroots.org really enabled someone like myself, who had an idea and vision but no technical knowledge or capital to hire someone to build a website, to really move forward with my organization."
